Late last month Harmeet Gabha hosted the F Stop Lounge Sydney Photo Walk on a cold New South Wales evening at the Rocks. The Fujifilm Australia and Photo Insomnia sponsored event saw around 26 people turn up ready for an exciting walk. Meeting just under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, I witnessed a diverse group of photographers ranging from those who had just purchased a camera the day before to the more experienced professionals. There was lots of conversation that happened throughout the night, with everyone helping each other out. Aperture lessons, composition and a shutter speeds were all discussed at length while various stories of online meetings and reminiscing took place.

As a group we were quite lucky with the weather considering it had been raining all day. The clear crisp night sky formed a black canvas as it backed the famous Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. The noise of clicking and clattering shutters filled the forest of tripods as multiple exposures were shot capturing the powered beauty that surrounded us. For me the experience was great, catching up with old and new friends as we meandered through the historic parts of Sydney Harbour and surrounds.

The group ended the evening at a local pub for some drinks and to catch up with our newly found friends while drooling over each other’s gear and photos.

The host then proceeded to giveaway a Fujifilm X-A1, which was kindly sponsored by Fujifilm Australia and some Lightroom Presents sponsored by Photo Insomnia. The lucky ticket holder who won the Fujifilm X-A1 major prize was Mark Seabury (below).

What I love most about Photo Walks is the opportunity to meet new people who share a similar passion for photography. It’s a great chance to meet some new friends, have some fun, improve on you skills or simply start learning photography if you’ve just picked up a camera.

So, if you would like to be involved in a future F Stop Lounge Photo Walk we suggest you like our Facebook Page or become an F Stop Lounger on our new Meetup Group.
